WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Juniata women's lacrosse team picked up a hard-fought win at McDaniel College, 9-7, Wednesday afternoon.
Kyndall Yeager led the way with five goals and four draw controls while Skyler Stevens had a goal, two assists, two ground balls and a caused turnover. Kelliann Drummond totaled two assists, while Peyton Goodrich had a goal, an assist, a ground ball and two draw controls. Elayna Stubbe, and Devyn Mauger tallied one goal apiece. Mikayla Bodley made 11 saves in goal, while Maeve Kuser had three caused turnovers and a ground ball. Tess Ledeboer contributed three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.
Yeager got the Eagles on the board with two goals a minute part early in the game. The Green Terror scored the next three, before Yeager added a third to tie the score at three. In the final 12 seconds of the first, Goodrich scored off a Drummond assist to send JC into the second up 4-3.
Each team scored twice in the second, with Stevens scoring off a Goodrich assist before Stevens turned provider as she set up Stubbe for the other.
Each team scored once in the third off a free position, with Yeager striking in the final minute to put JC back up by one.
Drummond found Mauger inside the first minute of the fourth, but McDaniel answered to cut it to one with six and a half minutes to go in the game. Stevens found Yeager for her fifth goal and the game's final as Juniata held on to win.
The Eagles will return home to take on St. Mary's (Md.) Saturday at 2:00.
