HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the year, 15-9, on a windy and chilly Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.
Peyton Goodrich had six goals, five ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers. Kyndall Yeager totaled a goal, five assists, and five draw controls. Skyler Stevens added four goals, an assist and a ground ball. Maeve Kuser was a menace defensively as she totaled seven caused turnovers, six ground balls and an assist. Kelliann Drummond tallied two goals and an assist while Shannon Para had a goal and an assist. Elayna Stubbe had a goal, a ground ball, a draw control and three caused turnovers. Mikayla Bodley had 11 saves in goal.
Kuser's seven caused turnovers is tied for the second most in a single game.
Stevens got the Eagles going with two goals in the first three minutes of the game, with Drummond finding her in front of the goal for the second. Neumann answered a few minutes later, before Stevens turned provider, finding Stubbe as JC led 3-1 after one.
The Eagles controlled the second quarter, outscoring Neumann 6-2. Goodrich scored three goals, while Yeager assisted two and scored the final goal of the half.
The Knights scored the first three goals of the second half to get within three, but Juniata answered with four goals, with Drummond scoring the final one with just under 11 to go in the game to make it 13-7.
The Eagles held off the Knights the rest of the way to get their first win.
Juniata will travel to take on McDaniel, Wednesday at 4:30.
