Women's Lacrosse Win's Sixth Straight, Cruises Past Bethany

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's lacrosse team won their sixth straight game 16-3 against Bethany Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium after a brief lightning delay pushed the start time back 30 minutes.

Grace Gibbs (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) totaled five goals, three groundballs and four caused turnovers, Peyton Goodrich (Reading, Pa. / Berks Catholic) scored three goals, had two assists, one groundball, Isabella Michener ( Randolph, N.J. / Randolph) tallied two goals and one caused turnover, Kyndall Yeager (Westminister, Md. / South Carroll) totaled two goals, one assist, two groundballs, and two caused turnovers. Shayla Lapp (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg), Shannon Para (Alexandria, Va. / West Potomac), Kelliann Drummond (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg), and Paige Riker (Sussex, N.J. / Vernon Township) each scored one goal.

The Eagles came into the game with intensity as Yeager scored within the first minute as Juniata totaled seven of their goals in the first quarter. Goodrich and Para scored back-to-back goals in the eighth minute of the game.

The second quarter also started with a bang as Riker scored her only goal of the game within the first 40 seconds. The Eagles led 12-1 going into halftime.

The third quarter was a low-scoring one, but Gibbs found the back of the net twice while the Bison managed to break through the Eagle defense for their first goal.

The JC scoring stayed low in the fourth quarter but didn't stop as Gibbs and Michener each found the back of the Bison Net.

Juniata held an 18-6 edge in caused turnovers and a 26-11 advantage in groundballs.

The women's lacrosse team travels to Chatham on Wednesday, March 23 for a 7:00 pm start time.
