One of the most successful athletes in the history of the Juniata College wrestling program, Pete Schuyler remains the only wrestler to win an individual Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship at a time when the conference included such larger schools as West Chester and Bucknell. He missed the NCAA Championship due to an academic conflict, but would have been the first Juniata wrestler to compete at the national competition. He claimed the MAC Championship in the heavyweight division to cap a senior season in which he finished with a 15-1 record with 10 of his wins coming by pin-fall which marked a single-season school record at that time. His efforts at the MAC Championship helped Juniata place fourth as a team. He was a co-captain for the Juniata squad in senior season. He reached double figures in singles victories as a freshman as well when he posted a mark of 11-5. His career singles record was an impressive 36-15-0 with 18 pins. He earned a fourth-place individual finish at the MAC Championship in his junior season.
