HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata softball dropped both games of a doubleheader against Susquehanna on Tuesday at West End Field, falling 5–0 in the opener and 12–2 in six innings in Game 2. The Eagles move to 6–19 overall and 0–5 in Landmark Conference play.
Game One: Susquehanna 5, Juniata 0
Susquehanna opened the scoring in the first and added three runs in the fifth to pull away. Brianna Jones threw a complete-game shutout for the River Hawks, striking out nine and allowing just three hits.
Eva Johnson, Alex Douglass, and Morgan Brumbaugh each had singles for the Eagles, but the offense couldn't break through against Jones.
Isabella Countryman took the loss after going 4.1 innings, and Gracie Ruch finished the game in relief.
Game Two: Susquehanna 12, Juniata 2 (6 innings)
The River Hawks jumped out to a 4–0 lead in the first and never looked back, collecting 13 hits and two home runs from Savannah Patrone.
Alison Superka put Juniata on the board with a solo home run in the first, and Claire Thomas added an RBI sacrifice fly in the third to make it 4–2. That was all the Eagles could manage, as Susquehanna pulled away with eight runs over the final three frames.
Rylea Lynch started for Juniata and took the loss, with Maryn Swank, Kenzie Tapias, and Maddy Detz pitching in relief.
The Eagles will host Elizabethtown on Saturday at 12:00 and 3:00 PM for Senior Day.
