Eagle Extra: Jecenia Duran, Women's Cross CountryJune 11, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Originally a soccer player who participated at the highly competitive premier level for eight years, Jecenia Duran (Temple,Pa./Oley Valley) started running cross country to keep in shape for the soccer season. She never thought of leaving soccer behind and perusing solely cross county, let alone becoming a successful collegiate runner. Duran finished her sophomore year with the Juniata College women’s cross country team ranked third in the Landmark Conference for the 3K run.

Juniata Places 40 Student-Athletes on Landmark Academic Honor RollDecember 05, 2013TOWSON, Md. – At the end of each season the Landmark Conference announces the Academic Honor Roll recognizing student-athletes that have reached sophomore standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. This year, Juniata has placed 40 student-athletes on the fall honor roll, up from 37 on year ago.

The meet will be hosted by Muhlenberg College and will take place at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. There will be 59 teams competing on the women’s side, as they take on a 6K course.

Saturday, November 2. Catholic University is hosting the meet at the United States Soldiers and Airmen’s Home. The women kick off the competition with a 6-kilometer race at 11 a.m. The men’s 8-kilometer race follows at 12 p.m.

Alter, Woods Sweep Landmark Cross Country HonorsSeptember 23, 2013HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Seniors Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) and Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) of the Juniata College cross country team were named Landmark Conference Runners of the Week, the league announced Monday. This is the first time since 2009 that Juniata has swept the cross country honors. The pair broke program records at the Lock Haven Invitational last Saturday, running the fastest times of any Landmark student-athlete this season.

Cross Country Runs at Catholic University InviteSeptember 07, 2013WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Juniata College men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the Catholic University Cross Country Invite on Saturday and saw two finish top 10 overall in the 6K. Senior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) placed third out of 53 runners and senior Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) finished 10th in a field of 73. Six other schools ran at the meet, including three Landmark Conference (Catholic, Goucher, and Moravian), and two Division I programs (American and George Washington).

Landmark Announces First-Annual Sportsmanship TeamsTOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference has announced the formation of the Landmark All-Sportsmanship Team created by the conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The teams include one student-athlete from each institution for each sport selected by the players and coaches from their respective teams.
