    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – With each of their respective athletic careers at Juniata College officially over, the Eagle senior student-athletes had their sights on one more milestone, graduation. There were 75 student-athletes who participated in the 136th Annual Commencement on Saturday, May 17 to receive their degrees.
  • Landmark Announces Spring Sportsmanship Teams

    TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference has announced the final All-Sportsmanship Teams for the inaugural season of the award. In the fall of 2013 the leagues’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) established the sportsmanship award as a way to recognize those who are making an impact through their fair play on the field. The team includes one representative from each institution for each sport as chosen by their coaches and teammates.

    TOWSON, Md. – For the second time during the 2013-14 season, 40 Juniata College student-athletes earned Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll standing, the league announced this morning. Juniata had 40 members on the fall honor roll and 29 after the winter season.
  • Krepps Earns First-Team All-Landmark, Sforza, Gray Second-Team

    TOWSON, Md. – Three members of the Juniata College baseball team earned All-Landmark honors for the 2014 season, the league announced this morning. Junior Cody Krepps (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) was one of three outfielders named to the First-Team while seniors Joe Sforza (Pittstown, N.J./Immaculatta) and Dan Gray (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) earned second-team honors at third base/designated hitter and catcher respectively. This is the first all-conference selection for Krepps and the second for both Sforza and Gray.

    GREENSBURG, Pa. – On the final day of the 2014 season the Juniata College baseball team suffered from a late-inning rally by the University of Pittsburg at Greensburg to fall 5-3 in a rain shortened game. The Eagles finished the season 9-31 overall.

    KINGS POINT, N.Y. – On the final day of the Landmark Conference regular season, the Juniata College baseball team was looking to play spoiler for U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s playoff hopes. The Mariners got the better of the Eagles, 8-1, to sweep the 2014 series, 3-0, and earn a spot in the postseason tournament. Senior shortstop Derek Heath (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon) finished 2-for-4 in the game and scored Juniata’s only run.
  • Baseball Suffers Two Losses at Merchant Marine

    KINGS POINT, N.Y. – In the final Landmark Conference series of the season the Juniata College baseball team suffered a pair of losses at the hand for the Mariners from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). The Eagles scored early, but not often enough in game one and fell 14-8 before a 5-1 pitching dual went the way of the Mariners in game two.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – In a match rescheduled from almost a month ago, the Juniata College baseball team earned its first Landmark Conference series win of the 2014 season by taking game three against The University of Scranton 15-7. The Eagles had previously earned the doubleheader split with the Royals back on April 2, at Bucknell University. Juniata ripped 17 hits to Scranton’s seven, driving in 15 of the teams’ 17 total runs.
  • Baseball Explodes for 31 Runs, Earns Split With Penn St.-Altoona

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College baseball team bounced back from a rough 13-6 loss to Penn St.-Altoona in game one of a doubleheader to dominate the Lions 25-3 in game two, earning a 2-2 split of the 2014 series. The Eagles managed seven hits in game one to score their six runs, stranding five runners on base, and then pounded out a season-high 24 hits to score a season-high 25 runs in game two, all while still stranding 14 runners.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The 2014 baseball season is drawing to a close and Juniata College will host Penn St.-Altoona in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, on Langdon-Goodale Field for the final home games of the season. The Eagles are coming of a final inning defeat after scoring six runs in the bottom of the ninth before falling to Elizabethtown College 8-7. Juniata faced the Lions of Penn St.-Altoona in a doubleheader last Thursday earning a split.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College baseball team came up one run short of yet another final inning comeback and fell to Elizabethtown College 8-7. Sophomore designated hitter Anthony Lombardo (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs batted in and a run scored and senior catcher Dan Gray (Johnstown, Pa. / Richland) also went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

    ERIE, Pa. – The Juniata College baseball team was just one strike away from dropping a doubleheader to Penn St.-Behrend before they mounted a five-run top-of-the-seventh comeback to capture game two. Juniata fell 3-0 in game one before taking the drama filled second matchup 5-2 win and moving the Eagles to 7-25 on the year.

    ALTOONA, Pa. – In a local rivalry with the Penn St.-Altoona Lions, the Juniata College baseball team earned a doubleheader split, dropping game one 7-3 before rebounding with the most impressive offensive output of the season for an 11-6 victory. The Eagles move to 6-24 on the year with nine games remaining in the 2014 season.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – In the final game of the three game series, the Juniata College baseball team lost a back-and-forth bout with Drew University, falling by a final score of 6-5. In a game with five lead changes, senior Joe Sforza (Pittstown, N.J./Immaculata) hit two home runs going 3-for-4 on the day with three RBI and three runs scored.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – A two-out seventh-inning rally fell just short of a four run comeback as the Juniata College baseball team fell to Drew University 7-6 in game two of a Landmark Conference doubleheaders. The Eagles allowed just two earned runs in game two, but dropped the opening contest 6-1 to fall to 5-22 on the year.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – In the final home weekend series of the 2014 season, the Juniata College baseball team will host Drew University in a doubleheader Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday, April 13, at noon. The Eagles are coming off a doubleheader split with Mount Aloysius College during which the team scored 16 runs in 14 innings.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Langdon-Goodale field was the sight of some of the most dramatic baseball of the 2014 season for Juniata College, as the Eagles earned a doubleheader split of Mount Aloysius College. Juniata got into an early hole in game one, but came back for the 9-6 win thanks to a stellar performance in relief by senior pitcher Nathan Strom (Ebensburg, Pa. / Central Cambria). In game two, the Eagles again were down early, but fought back to level the game in the bottom of the sixth on a grand slam by sophomore left fielder David DeFreest (Duxburry, Vt. / Harwood Union) before falling 8-7. The Eagles move to 5-20 on the year with the split.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After a full week of Landmark Conference games, the Juniata College baseball team will take a break from league action to host Mount Aloysius College in a doubleheader Wednesday, April 9, beginning at 1 p.m. The Eagles are 4-19 on the year and coming off a three game series at Catholic University of America. The Mounties are 9=11 overall and 4-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play.

Senior Joe Sforza (Pittstown, N.J. / Immaculata) threw six complete innings in the game one loss surrendering four earned runs on seven hits while striking out five and freshman Eric Grace (Hopewell, Pa. / Northern Bedford) went the distance in game two giving up three earned runs on three hits and striking out two over six innings.
