HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College baseball team dropped two seven-inning games to Moravian College Tuesday, 14-0 in game one and 13-4 in game two, falling to 3-15 on the year. Senior Brad Medellin (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) led the way finishing 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Freshman Eric Grace (Hopewell, Pa. / Northern Bedford) got the call in game two hurling six full innings surrendering six earned runs from 10 hits while striking out two. In the bottom of the first inning, senior shortstop Derek Heath (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) led off the frame with a single and came around to score on a ground out by senior Joe Sforza (Pittstown, N.J./Immaculata). Medellin followed Heath with a double and scored on a throw down to second for the first inning 2-0 Juniata lead.

Moravian came back with one in the top of the second and two in the top of the third, but the Eagles were able to tie the game at 3-3 with an RBI single from junior Cody Krepps (Tyrone, Pa. / Bellwood-Antis) to score Heath from second. Krepps finished 1-for-3 with one RBI. The Greyhounds broke the tie in the top of the fourth with four runs for the 7-4 lead.

Junior Nick Stubbs (Hagerstown, Md. / South Hagerstown) singled up the middle for the first runner of the fourth inning for Juniata and stole he way to third base and freshman first baseman Brady Cotler (Chadds Ford, Pa. / Salesianum) laced a one out single to left field in the Juniata half of the sixth, but both runners were unable to score in their respective innings.

Moravian followed up the four-run fourth with three more in the top of the sixth and seventh for the 13-3 lead. Medellin launched a one out double in the top of the seventh and Sforza followed suit with and RBI double down the left field line to score Medelin, but the final-inning-rally wasn't to be as the Eagles fell 13-4.

Junior Chris Fulton (West Chester, Pa / Unionville High School) took the mound in game one throwing four complete innings giving up seven earned runs on 13 hits and striking out two. The Greyhounds scored four in the top of the first inning to open the game. Juniata threatened with two runners in scoring position with two outs in the bottom of the second, but was unable to plate a run. Sophomore David DeFreest (Duxburry, Vt. / Harwood Union) beat out an infield hit for a one out single, but was stranded at the first station. The Eagles left 10 runners on base over both games.

Juniata will travel to Scranton, Pa. Wed. April 2, to play a Landmark Conference doubleheader against The University of Scranton at Connell Park. The Eagles then travel to Washington, D.C. for a league series against Catholic University of America before returning home Wed. April 9 for a doubleheader against Mount Aloysius College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
