There were 75 student-athletes who participated in the 136th Annual Commencement on Saturday, May 17 to receive their degrees.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women’s basketball team had ups and downs over the course of the 2013-14 season. Plagued by injuries and small numbers, the Eagles had to overcome adversity and persevere through a tumultuous year. After starting the season 5-0, being ranked as high No. 24 in the USA Today/Coaches poll, Juniata found itself 7-8 overall and 0-4 in Landmark Conference play with less than a third of its season remaining.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College women’s basketball senior Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) was named D3Hoops.com Second-Team All-Region, the organization announced Monday. This is her third consecutive season garnering all-region honors. McDonald was a D3Hoops.com Preseason All-American in 2012.
  • Landmark Announces Winter All-Sportsmanship Teams

    TOWSON, Md. – In the fall of 2013, the Landmark Conference announced the formation of the leagues’ All-Sportsmanship Team. Created by the conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the teams include one student-athlete from each institution for each sport selected by the players and coaches from their respective teams. The teams were established as a way to recognize those who are making an impact through their fair play.

    TOWSON, Md. – At the end of each season the Landmark Conference announces the Academic Honor Roll recognizing student-athletes that have reached sophomore standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. For Juniata College, 29 student-athletes from the men’s and women’s track and field team, the men’s and women’s basketball teams, and the women’s swimming team were recognized as honor roll members.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Senior Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) was voted Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced Wednesday. This is the second time in three years she has garnered the honor and it is her third player of the year award.

    SCRANTON, Pa. – The Juniata College women’s basketball team fought hard Wednesday night on the road in the Landmark Conference semifinal bout with University of Scranton before falling 74-53 to the top seeded Royals. Juniata (14-12) had an early lead, but Scranton would push ahead by 17 before the break and never look back.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women’s basketball team had their backs against the wall and their season on the line at the beginning of February. Sitting at 2-7 in the conference, the Eagles needed to win out the remainder of the season in order to have chance at making their seventh consecutive Landmark Conference Tournament. Juniata has never missed a dance in the Landmark and their two seniors made sure the streak continued. The Eagles face No. 1 seed University of Scranton in the 2014 Landmark semifinals on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

    MADISON, N.J. – The stakes were high in Baldwin Gym Saturday afternoon as Juniata College women’s basketball and Drew University battled for the final spot in the 2014 Landmark Conference Tournament. Neither team led by more than eight points in a contest that came down to the final seconds. Juniata (14-11, 7-7 Landmark) fended off a late surge by the Rangers to win 51-48. The victory extended Juniata’s win streak to five and cemented their place as the No. 4 seed in the playoffs. Drew dropped to 13-12 overall, 6-8 in Landmark play with the loss.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women’s basketball team erased a 17-point first half deficit to earn the 72-69 win over Landmark Conference rival Susquehanna University Wednesday night in its final regular season home game. Juniata (13-11, 6-7 Landmark) continues its hunt for the final conference tournament spot with the win. They now sit in a tie for fourth place with Drew University. Susquehanna dropped to 11-12 overall and 5-8 in Landmark play.

The Eagles host Susquehanna on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. in their last home game before traveling to face Drew on the road Saturday.

The Eagles are now 5-7 in Landmark Conference play and sit in a tie for fourth in the league. They are 13-1 all-time against Merchant Marine who fell to 4-18 overall, 0-12 in Landmark play, with the loss.

With the win, Juniata improved to 11-11 overall and 4-7 in Landmark Conference play, keeping its playoff hopes alive.

    BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Juniata College women’s basketball handed Moravian College its first home loss of the season in a 56-53 upset on the Greyhounds Pink Game in Johnston Hall. Over 1,000 people were in attendance to see only the second time in over 10 years that Juniata (10-11, 3-7 Landmark) defeated Moravian in Bethlehem. The Greyhounds dropped to 17-4 with the loss, and are 8-2 against Landmark Conference opponents.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College women’s basketball fell at home Wednesday night 81-60 to Catholic University of America in Landmark Conference action. Juniata (9-11, 2-7 Landmark) outrebounded Catholic had three Eagles finish in double-figure points. Catholic improved to 15-4 overall, 8-1 in Landmark play.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After posting her 12th double-double of the season against Landmark Conference rival Merchant Marine, senior Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa/State College Area) cemented her place in Juniata College history. The forward notched her 1,000th career rebound and became only the third student-athlete in Juniata College basketball history, male or female, to earn over 1,000 career points and rebounds. McDonald earned her 1,000th career point back on February 10, 2013 at home against Drew University.
