Orndorf Breaks JC Hammer Throw Record as Eagles Compete at the Jim Taylor Invite

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata women's track & field team competed at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna, Saturday.

In the field, Kylie Orndorf (Milheim, Pa. / Penns Valley) marked 39.41m in the hammer throw, breaking the previous Juniata record. Marylauren Davignon (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) marked 22.11m in the hammer throw. In the discus, Orndorf marked 33.39m while Davignon marked 20.19m. Davignon marked 8.73m in the shot put. Saraly Gonzalez's (Stratford, N.J. / Sterling) javelin throw of 38.10m moves her to No. 5 all-time in the Juniata record book. Orndorf marked 39.20m in the javelin. 

In the 5000m, Azia Kalil (Methuen, Mass. / Methuen HS) placed second with a time of 18:34.26, Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) finished fifth with a time of 19:01.21, and Rebecca Herwig (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset Area HS) finished 12th coming in with a time of 20:57.58. Abbie Echard (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) finished sixth in the 10000m run coming in with a time of 45:45.19. Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) (13.37), Holly Caldwell (Milford, Conn. / Jonathan Law) (14.78), and Caitlyn Gasmen (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) (15.11) competed in the 100m dash. 

Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) (5:11.36), Meaghen Stewart (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) (5:13.61), Mellanie Barnes (Chicago, Ill. / Holy Trinity (Ill.)) (5:17.32), Julia Freimuth (York, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS) (5:29.31), Alli Goulden (Wharton, N.J. / Morris Knolls) (5:33.69), Alexis Barge (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) (5:39.70), and Amanda Preston (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / East Pennsboro) (5:54.41) all ran in the 1500m run. Faith Nichols (Verona, Pa. / Taylor Allderdice) finished with a time of 1:03.35 in the 400m dash. Barnes came in with a time of 2:34.42 while Jessica Aragon (Bridgeport, Conn. / Bridgeport Central HS) finished with a time of 2:45.16 and Goulden finished with a time of 2:46.27 in the 800m run. 

In the 200m dash, Gasmen finished with a time of 30.88 and Caldwell came in with a time of 31.40. The team of Nichols, Barnes, Stewart, and Freimuth finished with a time of 4:23.07 in the 4x400m relay. The team of Alexander, Aragon, Barge, and Gasmen finished with a time of 4:41.06 in the 4x400m relay. 

The Eagles will compete in the Frostburg Invitational, April 6th.
