Women's Track Takes on Millersville Metrics

Millersville, Pa - The Juniata women's track and field team competed at the Millersville Metrics hosted by Millersville University on April 4th and 5th. 

Sprints & Middle Distance

Bri Spencer (Grampian, Pa / Curwensville Area HS) led the team in the 100 meters, running 13.28 seconds in the prelims to qualify for the finals, where she placed 6th overall with a nearly identical time of 13.27. Gracie French (Waynesboro, Pa / Waynesboro Area Senior HS) was close behind in the prelims, clocking 13.35. Jacqueline Bryant (Bay Shore, Ny / Islip HS) ran 13.98, Ashley Alfree (Mercersburg, Pa / James Buchanan HS) set a personal record with a time of 14.11, Beck Mensch also notched a PR with 14.50, and Rae Waight (New Milford, Ct / New Milford HS finished in 15.55. 

In the 100-meter hurdles, Gracie French finished in 17.33, while Beck Mensch set another personal record at 19.49.

Gracie French returned with a strong effort in the 200 meters, running 27.28 to place 8th and score a point. Bri Spencer followed in 28.34. Rebecca Mensch ran 30.71, and Emma Arnold (Mount Airy, Md) finished in 34.90.

In the 400 meters, Olivia Barbacci (Mechanicsburg, Pa / Cumberland Valley HS) ran an impressive 58.14, finishing 3rd overall and setting a new personal record that currently ranks 33rd in Division III this season. Jacqueline Bryant ran a PR of 1:06.16, Haley Mummah (Mifflintown, Pa / Juniata HS) also posted a PR at 1:14.09, followed by Kya Lester in 1:17.97 and Emma Arnold, who ran a PR of 1:24.09.

In the 800 meters, Rebecca Christophel (Three Springs, Pa / Southern Huntingdon) led the Eagles with a time of 2:28.15, just ahead of Camille McRoberts (Canton, Pa / Canton HS) who clocked 2:28.58. Chloe Reilley (Honey Brook, Pa / Twin Valley HS) ran 2:45.85, and Kya Lester earned another personal record with her time of 3:06.02.

In the 5000 meters, Camille McRoberts finished in 20:17.37, and Olivia Brenneman followed closely behind with a personal-best time of 20:29.19.


Field Events

Ashley Alfree earned 2 points for the Eagles in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters (4' 9").

In the pole vault, Josie Kelly cleared 2.60 meters (8' 6.25"), while Rae Waight (New Milford, Ct / New Milford HS) did not record a height. 

In the long jump, Haley Mummah led the way with a mark of 4.15 meters (13' 7.5"), followed by Breanne Spencer, who jumped 4.08 meters (13' 4.75").

Jacqueline Bryant earned a top-10 finish in the triple jump with a leap of 9.76 meters (32' 0.25").


Throws

In the discus, Chloe Sauer led Juniata with a personal-best throw of 33.00 meters (108' 3"). Emma Pinkston threw 31.45 meters (103' 2"), Justice Sheaffer set a personal record at 23.47 meters (77' 0"), and Paytan Henry followed with a mark of 20.38 meters (66' 10").

Sauer also led the team in the hammer throw, tossing a personal-best 34.71 meters (113' 10"). Sheaffer earned another PR at 25.38 meters (83' 3"), and Henry continued her strong day with a PR of 21.11 meters (69' 3").

In the javelin, Justice Sheaffer (Lewistown, Pa / Mifflin County HS) had the best mark for Juniata, throwing 27.89 meters (91' 6").

In the shot put, Chloe Sauer (Middleburg, Pa / Midd-West HS) led the Eagles again with a throw of 9.90 meters (32' 5.75"), while Paytan Henry (Greensburg, Pa / Greensburg Salem HS) set another personal record at 8.51 meters (27' 11"). 


Relays

The 4x400-meter relay team of Rebecca ChristophelCamille McRobertsJackie Bryant, and Chloe Reilley capped the day with a strong performance, finishing 4th overall in 4:25.97 and adding 5 points to the team total.
