HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Juniata's women's lacrosse team produced a dominant 17-0 shutout performance on the road against Chatham, who was Presidents' Athletic Conference semifinalist last season, on Wednesday. The win is the seventh consecutive for the Eagles, who controlled all facets of the game against the Cougars.
Sophomore Grace Gibbs (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) produced another standout performance after earning Landmark Athlete of the Week honors last week. She tallied four goals and two assists in the game, while adding four groundball pickups and two caused turnovers. The freshman duo of Peyton Goodrich (Reading, Pa. / Berks Catholic) and Kyndall Yeager (Westminster, Md. / South Carroll) both added three goals apiece, with Yeager also tallying an assist. Shannon Para (Alexandria, Va. / West Potomac) was another freshman goal-scorer, finding the net twice and assisting once. Isabella Michener (Randolph, N.J. / Randolph), Kelliann Drummond (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg), Aspen Handel (Richboro, Pa. / Bucks County), Talia Bertrando (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick), Shayla Lapp (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) rounded out the goal-scoring list for Juniata, each scoring once. Lapp also led the team in groundball pickups with five.
Chloe Gerhard (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) earned her seventh win of the season, saving all four of Chatham's shots on goal. The Cougars managed only six shots total, compared to 43 shots for Juniata.
The Eagles will now return home and prepare to host Goucher for their first Landmark contest of the season. The game is Saturday, March 26th at 1:00 PM.
