HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 18-25) loss to visiting #2 Southern Virginia University in Continental Volleyball Conference action, Friday evening inside Memorial Gymnasium.
Juan Armando had 13 kills with an ace and two digs while Tyler Goldsborough had nine kills, two assists, four digs and a solo block.
The Knights used a 10-3 run midway through set one to take a 15-20 lead. An Armando kill and a block by Luke Hoffman made it 17-20, but SVU countered with five straight to end set one 17-25.
An early 9-0 run from the Knights made it 5- 11 early. The Eagles clawed their way back, with a late 3-0 flurry capped by a Chase Robbins ace bringing JC within two, 18-20. SVU took five of the next seven to claim set two 20-25.
The third set saw the Knights slowly pull away as they went on, closing the match with a 3-8 run to end the game.
Juniata returns to action at Elizabethtown, Wednesday, the 26th at 7:00
