MADISON, N.J.- The #5 Juniata men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win at Drew University, 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-11), Friday evening to move to 4-1 in Continental Volleyball Conference play.
Octavian Sperry tallied 11 kills (.667) with an ace, three digs, and a solo block, while Juan Armando had nine kills (.333), four digs, and a block assist. Luke Hoffman totaled seven kills (.667) an ace, a dig and four blocks. Max Finkielstein was a force from the service line, tallying seven aces.
Juniata took an early 6-2 lead on kills from Dante Palombo, Armando, Tyler Phillips, a Finkielstein ace, and a block by Hoffman and Phillips. They never looked back, using a late 9-2 run to take set one 25-12.
Set two was the tightest, with the Eagles making their move at 13-11. Kills from Armando and Palombo, combined with two errors by the hosts and another Finklestein ace, made it 18-12. Juniata eventually took set two on a Ranger attack error, 25-18.
The Eagles dominated the third set with two different 7-1 runs, including Finkielstein's four straight aces to end the match 25-11.
Juniata will play at Wilkes tomorrow at 1:00.
