Four Men’s Volleyball Players Named Academic All-CVC
July 23, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – At the end of yet another historic season in the storied history of Juniata College men’s volleyball, four Eagles earned Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Academic All-Conference honors. Recent graduates Ben Krouse (Holland, Pa. / Council Rock South) and Alex McColgin (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hamburg), along with rising senior Paul Kuhn (York, Pa. / Central York) and rising junior Ryan Shelton (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) were the Juniata representatives amongst a record high 74 student-athletes to garner the honor for the 2014 season. -

2014 Season-in-Review: Men’s Volleyball
May 29, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College men’s volleyball made its 25th year a memorable one. The Eagles (29-5, 9-1 CVC) played for a national championship, won their second consecutive Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) title, set program records for most wins and fewest losses, had the most All-America selections since 2007, and finished the 2014 season ranked second in the nation.

Men’s Volleyball Foursome Named ECAC All-Stars
May 27, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The honors continue to pour in for Juniata College men’s volleyball. After helping lead the team to its first NCAA Division III national championship match, redshirt junior Alex McColgin (Buffalo, N.Y./Hamburg), juniors Paul Kuhn (York, Pa./Central York) and Joe Bortak (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford), and sophomore Chad Albert (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) were named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Stars, the organization announced Tuesday. Juniata tied reigning national champion Springfield College for the most All-Star selections.

National Runner-up Finishes Year Ranked No. 2 in AVCA Poll
May 02, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Just a few days after the Juniata College men’s volleyball team appeared in its first NCAA national championship match, the Eagles were voted No. 2 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll. The Eagles earned 182 points to move up from third place. Juniata (29-5) spent the entire 2014 season ranked in the top three, with five weeks at No. 1.

No. 3 Juniata Upsets No. 2 New Paltz, 3-1, For Place in Championship
April 27, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The No. 3 Juniata College men’s volleyball team used strong defense and big swings to propel itself into the national championship match at home in the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center. The Eagles upset No. 2 SUNY New Paltz 3-1 (18-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-22) Saturday evening in the NCAA semifinals. Juniata (29-3) will take on top ranked Springfield College in the 2014 NCAA Division III men’s volleyball championship at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 27.

Eagles Fall to No. 1 Springfield in National Championship
April 27, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – In a back and forth battle of the bigs, No. 3 Juniata College men’s volleyball could not find a way past No. 1 Springfield College in the 2014 NCAA Division III men’s volleyball national championship on Sunday in the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center. The two-time defending national champions won 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) to improve to 27-8 overall. The Eagles finished their season 29-5, setting program records for most wins and fewest losses in a single season.

No. 3 Eagles Headed to NCAA Semifinal After 3-2 Win Over Kean
April 25, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – There were nearly 700 fans in attendance to watch No. 3 Juniata College men’s volleyball take on No. 9 Kean University in the 2014 NCAA Division III men’s volleyball tournament and the Eagles did not disappoint. Juniata (28-4) defeated the Cougars, 3-2 (21-25, 25-18, 26-28, 25-17, 15-6), in a thriller at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center Friday night. With the win, the Eagles now face SUNY New Paltz in the national semifinal match at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. Tickets will go on sale one hour prior to match time.

Third Seed Juniata Primed to Make Run for First NCAA Championship
April 24, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The bracket is set and the teams are ready for the 2014 NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship. Juniata College is the host for this year’s tournament and the third ranked Eagles are looking forward to being home for at least one more match. Juniata (27-4) will face sixth seeded Kean University in the national quarterfinals on Friday, April 25 at 8 p.m.

No. 3 Men’s Volleyball Places Four on AVCA All-America Teams
April 22, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After a year that saw the Juniata College men’s volleyball team spend five weeks at the top of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, Juniata placed four on the AVCA’s All-America teams. The third ranked Eagles tied Springfield College for the most selections. Juniata has had an All-American named in all 11 years of the AVCA’s squads.

Kuhn Named CVC Player of the Year, Four Earn All-Conference Honors
April 16, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – No. 3 Juniata College men’s volleyball dominated the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) postseason honors. Juniata (27-4) won three straight contests to win the CVC title and the leagues coaches recognized many of the individual efforts that made it possible. Four Eagles were named to the All-CVC East team including junior Paul Kuhn (York, Pa./Central York) who became the first in Juniata history to be named CVC Player of the Year. Juniata has collected one of the big three conference awards each year since joining the league in 2012. Eagles were named rookies of the year in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Juniata Remains Third in AVCA Top 15 Coaches Poll
April 15, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – A couple days after earning their second consecutive Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) championship, Juniata College men’s volleyball held onto its No. 3 national ranking, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll announced Tuesday. The top four remained unchanged from last weeks poll as the Eagles earned 171 points and one first place vote.

No. 3 Juniata Sweeps No. 13 Stevenson to Earn Second CVC Title
April 13, 2014GREENVILLE, Pa. – No. 3 Juniata College men’s volleyball swept No. 13 Stevenson 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-11) in the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) championship to earn its second consecutive title and an automatic berth to the 2014 NCAA Division III Tournament. Juniata dominated in every category as it cruised to its 12th win in 13 matches to improve to 27-4 overall. The Eagles are now 5-1 all-time in the CVC tournament.

No. 3 Eagles Advance to Championship, Defend Title in Stevenson Rematch
April 12, 2014Greenville, Pa. – No. 3 Juniata College men’s volleyball defeated Dominican University 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 25-20) in the quarterfinals and No. 4 Carthage College 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-18) in the semifinals Saturday afternoon to advance to the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) championship match for the second consecutive year. Straight from the storyline of a classic sports movie, the reigning CVC champions will face No. 13 Stevenson University in the championship at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 13 at Thiel College. Juniata (26-4) fell 3-1 to the Mustangs when the teams met in Huntingdon just over a week ago. Stevenson (21-7) handed the Eagles only their fourth loss of the season, ending an eight match win streak.

April 09, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – No. 3 Juniata College men’s volleyball is gearing up for the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Tournament and will have a little harder road to the championship. Six teams compete for the league title. As the reigning champion, Juniata (24-4, 9-1 CVC) will have the biggest target on its back. And because they are the #2 seed out of the East division, they will need to win three matches to defend their title and earn an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

Juniata Moves to Third Place in AVCA Poll, Still Top Ranked CVC Team
April 08, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men’s volleyball team dropped to third in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll Tuesday. The Eagles have been in the top three all season long. They earned 168 points, beating out Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) rival No. 4 Carthage, who finished with 160 points in the poll.

No. 15 Stevenson Wins Grudge Match, Upsets No. 1 Eagles 3-1
April 04, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Despite outhitting and outblocking No. 15 Stevenson University, No. 1 Juniata College men’s volleyball could not pull off the comeback and dropped its first Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) match of the season 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18) Friday night. In front of a season-high 675-fan crowd, the Eagles (23-4, 8-1) led in attack percentage, service aces, digs, and blocks. With the win Stevenson improved to 19-7 overall, 8-1 in league.

No. 1 Juniata Hosting No. 15 Stevenson and Cairn in Final Home Matches
April 03, 2014HUNTINGDON, Pa. – There are only two matches left in the regular season for No. 1 Juniata College men’s volleyball. The Eagles will host Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) rivals No. 15 Stevenson University on Friday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Cairn University on Saturday, April 5 at 3 p.m. Juniata (23-3) is undefeated in conference, 8-0, heading into this weekend and is closing out its home season in style. Friday is a Whiteout Night and Saturday is senior day.

March 29, 2014HAMBURG, N.Y. – No. 1 Juniata College men’s volleyball closed its non-conference schedule with two road wins in a tri-match Saturday afternoon. The Eagles took down host Hilbert College 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-16, 25-12) before topping Penn State Altoona 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-14). Juniata improved to 23-3 with the wins.
