Juniata Shows Fight but Falls Short in Doubleheader Against Catholic

Game 1: Catholic 8, Juniata 1

HUNTINGDON, Pa - Juniata struck first with an early sacrifice fly from Zach Johnston to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Braelan Huber was dominant on the mound, tossing six one-hit innings while keeping Catholic's offense silent. However, things unraveled in the seventh inning when Catholic broke through with a six-run rally, highlighted by a three-run homer. Juniata struggled to respond, and Catholic tacked on two more runs in the ninth to seal the game. Despite a solid 10-hit effort, the Eagles couldn't capitalize with runners in scoring position and were limited to just one run.

Game 2: Catholic 15, Juniata 7

Juniata fell behind early as Catholic jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, aided by defensive miscues. The Eagles kept battling, but Catholic extended their lead with a three-run homer in the fifth. Juniata finally got on the board in the sixth with an RBI single from Joey Woodrow, then mounted a late-game surge with a three-run seventh, including a two-run double from Jace Irvin. The Eagles cut the deficit to 9-6 in the eighth, but Catholic responded with a six-run ninth inning, putting the game out of reach.

Juniata will complete the series with Catholic on Sunday afternoon at noon.
