Blue Jays Take Two From Eagles

Blue Jays Take Two From Eagles

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team dropped two games at Elizabethtown College, 7-3 and 13-3, Saturday afternoon at Kevin Scott Boyd Stadium to open Landmark Conference play.

Game one saw the Eagles get on the board in the top of the first. Corey Daniels and Evan Mock drew back-to-back walks, and with two outs, Joey Allegrini singled to right, which sent Daniels home.

Michael Warren led off the second with a single to left center, and Matthew Quigley followed with a single to center that saw Warren go first to third. A double steal saw Warren tagged out at home, but two batters later, Dakotah Snyder drove in Quigley with a single to the shortstop. Juniata led 2-0 through two innings.

An RBI double to left in the fourth and a solo homer in the fifth pulled the Blue Jays even at 2-2. An RBI single pushed Elizabethtown ahead as they led 3-2 after five.

Elizabethtown tacked on two more runs in the sixth and another two in the seventh to increase their lead to five.

Connor Meisner drove in Mock with an RBI single to left in the eigth to complete the scoring.

Allegrini and Aaron Bollinger both went 2-4 in game one, with Allegrini driving in a run also. Mock went 1-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Meisner was 1-3 with a RBI, while Snyder went 1-4 with a RBI.

In game two, the teams traded zeros through the first two innings. Jace Irvin drew a walk to open the third, and Dakotah eventually followed with a single to left. Daniels smacked an RBI single to right center, and Snyder scored on a passed ball to put the Eagles up 2-0.

The Elizabethtown offense got hot in the fifth as they pushed two across. Their big inning was the sixth as they plated seven, scoring seven runs on six hits. They added another two in the seventh to increase their lead by nine at 11-2.

Snyder bashed a homer to left in the eighth to get one back, but the Blue Jays countered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it 13-3.

Snyder went 3-4 in game two with a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Juniata will return to Elizabethtown to play the final game Tuesday. First pitch is at 3:00.
