Eagles Fend Off River Hawks to Win Season Series

Eagles Fend Off River Hawks to Win Season Series

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team hung on to nab a 5-4 win over visiting Susquehanna University on a cloudy afternoon at Langdon-Goodale Field.

Juniata got on the scoreboard from the jump as Dakotah Snyder led off by getting hit by a pitch. Two batters later, Michael Warren smacked a double over the center fielder's head, and Joey Woodrow scored Snyder with an infield single. Both runners advanced on a passed ball, and Corey Daniels walked to load the bases. Caden Collins came up with two outs and smacked a double to left-center to put the Eagles up 4-0.

The Eagles added a fifth in the third inning as Charlie Bakken doubled and later scored on an error by the third baseman.

Connor Rohm made his way through the River Hawks with relative ease the first two times through the lineup. SU scored on a solo homer in the fifth and a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Aidan Chermol entered midway through the sixth and stranded two runners.

Chermol went 1-2-3 in the seventh and, after two hits, sat the next three batters down in the eighth to maintain the three-run lead.

Connor Krahulec entered in the ninth, walked the first batter, and got the next two outs before a two-run blast to left suddenly made it a one-run game. He induced a groundout to second to end things.

Juniata will play at Waynesburg for a doubleheader on Saturday, with game one starting at 1:00.
