Eagles Split at Waynesburg in Non-Conference Action

GREENE COUNTY, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team split on the road in non-conference action at Waynesburg, winning 5-3 before falling 6-4 Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets got on the board first, with an RBI triple and an RBI single to right in the first.  

Tim Coleman led off the third with a walk and stole second. Connor Blough singled to right to cut the deficit in half. Michael Warren smacked a double to right center two batters later to tie the game. 

Corey Daniels homered to left in the fourth, and Caden Collins singled to center. He later scored on Blough's single to right after an error by the right fielder. 

Waynesburg made it 4-3 on an infield RBI single in the sixth.

Daniels smacked his second home run of the day in the eighth to provide an insurance run. 

Zachary Malone pitched 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts to earn the win. Jason Waguespack pitched the final 3.1 innings, allowing a hit and striking out two to earn the save. 

The Yellow Jackets struck early in game two, scoring four runs on three hits in the first while capitalizing on three Juniata errors. 

Jace Irvin scored Daniels on a sacrifice fly to right in the second to bring the Eagles within three. 

The teams traded zeros for three innings before a double steal with runners at the corners by Waynesburg made it 5-1.  

David Beard's RBI single in the eighth scored Daniels, and Blough followed with a two-run single to left center to score Connor Meisner and Sebastian Tringali. JC trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom half of the inning. 

The Yellow Jackets scored once more on a sac fly, and the Eagles couldn't manufacture any runs in the ninth. 

Juniata will travel to take on Mount Aloysius tomorrow at 2:00.
