Blue Jays Best Eagles

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The women's soccer team dropped a conference matchup with Elizabethtown Saturday afternoon after allowing two goals in the first half and one goal in the second half.

The Blue Jays broke through the Juniata defense a little over a minute into the game to find the lower left netting to edge the score to 1-0 and set the tone for the rest of the game.

Avery Zales was able to stop the second Elizabethtown shot but conceded a second goal in the 17th minute of play. Elizabethtown carried the ball up the right side of the field, and made a short cross before sending one past Zales.

Juniata's first shot came from Savanna Murray in the 24th minute, striking towards the bottom left of the frame, but the Blue Jay keeper stopped it. Mariah McDonald missed high in the 43rd minute.

The second half saw another early Blue Jay goal finalizing the scorecard at 3-0 in the 46th minute. Murray attempted her second shot in the 53rd minute, but the Elizabethtown goalkeeper cemented her shutout with her second save of the day.

The Blue Jays outshot the Eagles 22 shots to three, and 14 were on goal compared to Juniata's two shots on goal.

Zales tallied 11 saves on the day.

The Eagles play again Wednesday, October 5, at Pitt.-Greensburg for a 7:00 pm game.
