HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win over visiting Penn College Wednesday evening on what turned into a wet evening at Gibbel Stadium.

The Wildcats controlled play early as they took the first three shots of the game, which forced Cati Besch into a save in the eighth minute of the game.

Emma Greggo ripped a shot high in the 22nd minute and had a shot blocked by a Wildcat defender that was headed towards the goal a few minutes later.

Ashley McWilliams rocked the far-right post with an excellent free kick from 30 yards out from the left side that caromed off the post to Mariah McDonald, whose header went wide.

In the 38th minute, Colleen O'Brien dribbled down the left wing and played a low ball into the box. Amelia Yordy beat her defender and the goalie to the ball and poked it into the left corner.

The Eagles kept up the pressure, as an O'Brien shot drew a save, and Yordy got another shot off, but it went wide of the goal.

Juniata held a 9-4 edge in shots in the first half.

The second half was tight throughout, as neither team could completely take control of the match.

The Eagles managed four shots in the second half, as O'Brien & McDonald managed two shots on goal apiece, but the Wildcat keeper was up to the task and stopped them all.

Besch was called upon twice, including in the final minute on a long free kick that was shot right at her.

Juniata keeps their perfect record against Penn College, as they move to 5-0 all-time against the Wildcats.

The Eagles will travel to play Elizabethtown Saturday at 4:00.
