Women’s soccer dominates Southern Vermont

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Juniata College women's soccer team dominated Southern Vermont College in Bennington Vermont on Saturday afternoon, marking the squad's fourth consecutive shutout of the 2012 season. 

The game was scoreless heading into the second half, but just three minutes into the second 45 minutes of play, freshman Emily Green (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) scored off a pass from senior Katie Keating (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area).

In the 70th minute, Sarah Rhodes (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield Central) struck for the Eagles assisted by Jenna Rodrigue (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) followed by a Rose Lucidi's (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) first goal of the season in the 83rd minute with an Alicia Snyder (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) assist.

The Juniata scoring ended just two minutes later with a Lauren Liacouras (Collegville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) goal from a Green assist.

So far this season, nine different Juniata players have scored a goal and just as many individuals have assisted a goal.

Juniata (4-0) took 22 shots in the contest, 11 in each half, and recorded six corner kick opportunities. 

Kristin Twardowski (Emmaus, Pa./Southern Lehigh) spent all 90 minutes in goal for Juniata and registered two saves.

Juniata hosts Pitt.-Bradford on Tuesday, September 11 for a 4:30 p.m. contest to be held at Detwiler Memorial Field in Huntingdon, Pa.
