Game 1: Wilson 3, Juniata 2

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College battled hard but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Wilson in the first game of their doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.

Wilson took an early lead in the top of the first when a double to left field, drove in a run to make it 1-0. The Phoenix extended their lead in the third inning after a double brought in another run.

Juniata responded in the fourth inning when Ashley Robuck delivered a clutch RBI single to right field, scoring Alex Douglass to cut the deficit to 3-1. In the fifth, Reagan Goldsmith scored on a passed ball after Claire Thomas drew a walk, narrowing the gap to 3-2.

Maddy Detz (0-1) took the loss for Juniata, pitching two innings and giving up one run on three hits. Rylea Lynch provided solid relief, allowing two runs (one earned) over five innings with one strikeout.

Despite the loss, Juniata showed resilience at the plate, with Robuck and Goldsmith each collecting a hit.

Game 2: Wilson 6, Juniata 1
In the second game, Juniata once again got off to a promising start but couldn't keep pace with Wilson's offensive surge, falling 6-1.

Juniata struck first in the fourth inning when Alison Superka singled to right field, driving in Dani Berlin to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. However, Wilson responded with a big fifth inning. Tying the game with an RBI single. Timely hitting from WIlson eventually pushed their lead to 6-1.

Juniata's offense managed 11 hits, led by Reagan Goldsmith, who went 3-for-3 at the plate. Jessie Hunt and Claire Thomas each added two hits, but the Eagles struggled to capitalize with runners in scoring position.

Maryn Swank (0-1) took the loss for Juniata, allowing four runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings. Gracie Ruch pitched the final 2.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits.

The Eagles will head south to Orlando, Florida to participate in The Spring Games Baseball event with their first matchup against Rowan on March 14th at 2:00 PM.
