MVB concludes CVC East play with 3-0 win over Eastern Mennonite

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College men's volleyball wrapped up Continental Volleyball Conference East Division play with a 3-0 senior day win over Eastern Mennonite University, Saturday afternoon at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.

Set scores for the Eagles were 25-18, 25-17, and 25-21.

Juniata (26-9, 8-0 CVC East) clinched the top seed of the East Division for the upcoming CVC Tournament, which will be held in two weeks at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa.

Outside hitter Brian Jaron (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) and middle Joe Bortak (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford) each led the Eagles with 11 kills and two block assists, while Jaron also logged a service ace to finish with a team-high 13.0 points. 

Middle Ben Wolff (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) recorded seven kills and six total blocks, and completed the match with 10.5 points. 

Juniata hit .439 for the match, with setter John Almquist (York, Pa./Central York) registering 35 assists at the helm of the Eagle offense.

Eastern Mennonite (11-14, 3-5 CVC East) hit .111 for the match, and was led by Chris Moise and Kendall Garber with nine kills each. The Royals handed away 30 points to the Eagles on attack and service errors, and were out-blocked 10.5 to 1.0.

The Eagles close out the regular season on Saturday, April 7, when they host Sacred Heart University in a non-conference tilt at 1:00 p.m. at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
