SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Juniata men's track and field team competed at Susquehanna University on Saturday, showcasing strong individual performances across multiple events.
The meet began with the 60-meter dash preliminaries, where senior Colson Lewis dominated with a first-place finish in his heat, clocking 6.95 seconds to secure his spot in the finals. In the finals, Lewis placed second overall with a personal best of 6.92 seconds, earning an AARTFC qualification mark. Freshman Mandel Edelin also impressed, finishing 18th in the preliminaries with a time of 7.32.
In the 200 meters, Lewis led Juniata again, finishing fifth overall with a time of 22.96. Junior Caleb Massare placed 26th, running 24.59, while freshman Deric Fritzges and Evan Downs posted times of 24.96 and 25.55, respectively.
Freshman Josh Wilson paced the Eagles in the 800 meters, finishing 16th in 2:07.52. He was followed by fellow freshmen Jacob Alexander (23rd, 2:12.29) and Braden Barrick (37th, 2:20.36).
The mile race saw freshman McClain Reamer-Shervinskie finish fifth with a time of 4:56.13, narrowly edging sophomore teammate Conrad Coffey, who placed seventh in 4:57.12.
Freshman Adam Gallo delivered a standout performance in the 3000 meters, finishing sixth with a time of 9:29.54, securing critical points for the team.
In hurdles, Fritzges and freshman JJ Asante-Ansong advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. Fritzges finished sixth with a time of 9.11, while Asante-Ansong placed eighth in 9.41.
The 4x400-meter relay teams displayed strong teamwork, with the A team of Lincoln Riddle, Jacob Alexander, Fritzges, and Shane Smith finishing seventh in 3:43.21. The B and C teams clocked times of 3:51.17 and 4:01.35, respectively.
In the field events, sophomore Gavin Robb led Juniata in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.40m, finishing 10th. Freshman Hunter Robertson placed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.75m, while sophomore Waylon Ehrenzeller finished 12th in the long jump with a leap of 6.09m.
The throwers also had notable performances, with sophomore Logan Hackenberg placing 22nd in the weight throw (10.11m) and 36th in the shot put (10.14m).
The Eagles will return to competition on January 24th at Bucknell at 3:00 PM, looking to build on their early-season success.
