Huntingdon, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team won 3-1 over visiting Hood College on Tuesday evening at Gibbel Stadium.
Nathan Weick and Gavin Rauhut had a goal and an assist apiece, while Jayden Gaynor had one goal and Brandon Marzula had an assist. Maxwell Mattioni made two saves in goal for JC.
In the 17th minute, Weick played an incisive through ball that spit the two Blazer center backs that Gaynor ran onto. He calmly put the ball between the goalie's legs and into the net to put Juniata up 1-0.
Juniata led 1-0 at the break and had an 8-1 advantage in shots.
In the 46th minute, Rauhut crossed the ball from the left end line into the box to Weick. He took a touch and blasted a shot that bounced off a Hood defender and into the net to double the JC advantage.
Two minutes later, Marzula lofted a ball over the defense that Rauhut controlled with his chest, poked past the keeper off the far left post and in.
The Blazers got one back in the 71st minute, poking the ball in from close range on a corner.
The Eagles controlled the rest of the match to get the win.
Juniata had a 20-6 advantage on shots and a 9-4 edge in corners.
The men's soccer team will take on York at home on Saturday at 4:00.
