Juniata Men Set to Host Greyhounds in Landmark Conference Championship Saturday

The Juniata men's basketball team comes into the Landmark Conference Championship game 22-4 after their 77-70 victory over Catholic. Moravian comes to Huntingdon after earning their place in the championship game with their 96-91 overtime win over Drew.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. All youth under the age of 10 are admitted free as are all students, faculty and staff with a valid ID from any of the eight Landmark Conference institutions. College students without a Landmark school ID and seniors are $3.

Juniata and Moravian will be meeting for the 71st time with the Greyhounds leading the all-time match up 38-32.  Juniata prevailed 76-65 in their first meeting in December while in the more recent matchup in February the Greyhounds prevailed 96-84. 

The Greyhounds needed overtime to get past the Rangers on Wednesday. Moravian missed a few free throws down the stretch, which allowed Yonathan Napoleon of Drew to hit a jumper and force overtime. In the OT, they jumped out to a six-point lead and made their foul shots down the stretch to get the win. Jimmy Murray had 24 points, C.J. Barnes had 20 points and seven rebounds while Nicholas Casazza had 19 points and five rebounds. Oneil Holder had 12 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. This will be the Greyhounds third appearance in the conference title game.

Greyhound Leaders: Jimmy Murray leads the team in scoring at 17.8 points, leads the conference in three-point percentage (50.0%) and is third in the Landmark with 40 steals. He's also fifth in free throw percentage (81.2%). Oneil Holder is second on the team in scoring at 17.0, fifth in the conference in rebounding at 8.0, fourth in the conference in steals and is second in blocks with 36. C.J. Barnes is third on the team in scoring at 10.8 and leads the conference in free throw percentage (86.7%). Matt Cardonne is fifth in three-point percentage (43.4%), Will Brazukas is fifth in assists with 98 while Nicholas Casazza is fifth in steals with 37. 

Juniata ranks second in the country in field goal percentage at 51.6%, seventh in the country in scoring defense (62.8) and 11th in the country in scoring margin (14.6). Moravian ranks 12th in the nation in three-point field goal makes per game (11.6) and total three pointers made at 291.

Eagle Leaders: Marcus Lee is second in the conference in scoring with 19.3 points, second in field goal percentage (65.8%) and is fifth in the Landmark in blocks with 24. Seth Brewer is second on the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game, fourth in the conference in field goal percentage (55.8%), third in free throw percentage (86.5%), third in three-point percentage (46.5%) and he's third in assists with 114. Brandon Martinazzi is third in scoring at 12.2 points while shooting 41.7% from behind the three-point line. Damon Rickens is averaging 9.2 points per game while averaging nearly two made threes per game and 4.2 rebounds. Paul Martello is averaging 7.8 points off the bench while shooting 50.8% from the floor and 45.1% from three.  

The winner of the game earns an automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
