    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four members of the most successful class to pass through Juniata College men’s basketball can add one for plaque to their walls – seniors Pat Cassidy (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg), Brian Scholly (State College, Pa. / State College), Kevin Snyder (Indiana, Pa. / Indiana), and Kevin Stapleton (Indiana, Pa. / Indiana) all earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2013-14 Honors Court status, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The comprehensive instructional camp for all skill levels, open to boys and girls entering K-9 grade, will take pace July 28 through August 1. The camp includes instruction from Juniata players and coaches, teaching stations, daily games, competition, and more.

    TOWSON, Md. – Senior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) of the Juniata College men’s basketball team has been named the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete for the 2013-14 men’s basketball season. He is just the tenth Juniata student-athlete to receive the senior scholar athlete award and the second men’s basketball player.

  • Landmark Announces Winter All-Sportsmanship Teams

    TOWSON, Md. – In the fall of 2013, the Landmark Conference announced the formation of the leagues’ All-Sportsmanship Team. Created by the conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the teams include one student-athlete from each institution for each sport selected by the players and coaches from their respective teams. The teams were established as a way to recognize those who are making an impact through their fair play.

    TOWSON, Md. – At the end of each season the Landmark Conference announces the Academic Honor Roll recognizing student-athletes that have reached sophomore standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. For Juniata College, 29 student-athletes from the men’s and women’s track and field team, the men’s and women’s basketball teams, and the women’s swimming team were recognized as honor roll members.

    BETHANY, W. Va. – All night long the net swished as the No. 4 seed Juniata College men’s basketball team nailed three after three to take down No. 2 seed Hood College, 82-67, and claim the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Southwest Tournament championship. Senior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) led the Eagles with 24 points, going 6-for-12 from behind the arc, and was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his performances throughout the tournament.

    BETHANY, W. Va. – The fourth seeded Juniata College men’s basketball team continued to roll through the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southwest tournament, defeating top-seeded Bethany College, 78-59, and earning a spot in tomorrow’s championship game. Four different Juniata players finished in double-digit points with senior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) leading the way with 18. Seniors Lucas Mellott (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) and Jeremy Hays (McMechen, W. Va./John Marshall) both finished with double-doubles as Mellott scored 12 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds, and Hays had a team second-best 15 points and a game-high 11 assists.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Monday afternoon, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the seeding for its men's basketball postseason tournaments. Juniata College was selected as the fourth seed in the Southwest tournament bracket. For the class of 2014, the announcement marked the third time in their four-year career they have qualified for postseason play. Juniata men's basketball has only qualified for the post season on five occasions over its 108-year history – and the men of 2014 have earned three of those bids.

    TOWSON, Md. – Senior Jeremy Hays (McMechen, W. Va./John Marshall) of the Juniata College men’s basketball team earned First-Team All-Landmark Conference honors, the league announced this afternoon. This is the second all-conference nod for the guard who was chosen a second-team member for the 2012-13 season.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – On a loud night in Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center, when the energy on court was as palpable as the fans in the stands, the Juniata College men’s basketball team used a potent offense and a steady defense to top Alfred University (AU), 92-76, in the quarterfinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southwest tournament. Senior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) led the Eagles with a commanding game-high 32 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Just over three minutes into the game senior Kevin Stapleton (Indian, Pa./Indiana) netted his fourth point of the night to give him 1,000 points in his Juniata career. The guard finished the night with 15 points and six rebounds.

    CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Just over one week removed from the end of the regular season, the Juniata College men’s basketball team earned a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southwest tournament. The fourth seeded Eagles will host fifth seed Alfred University in a quarterfinals contest Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.

    MADISON, N.J. – On the final day of the regular season, the Juniata College men’s basketball team earned a blowout win, 72-50, over Drew University. Senior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) led the Eagles (15-10, 6-8 Landmark) with a game-high 17 points and a game-high seven rebounds on a day when Juniata led from the first point to the last. Senior Jeremy Hays (McMechen, W. Va./John Marshall) notched 16 points and game-highs in assists with five and steals with four.

    SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A hard fought battle didn’t go the way of the Juniata College men’s basketball team as the Eagles fell 59-58 on a last second three point shot at Susquehanna University. In a game with 23 lead changes and 12 ties, senior Lucas Mellott (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) led Juniata with 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – On a packed night in Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center, the Juniata College men’s basketball team fell in a tight battle against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 66-61. The Eagles are now 14-9 on the year and fall to 5-7 in Landmark Conference play. Merchant Marine senior Nick Sergio had a game-high 19 points while Juniata senior Jeremy Hays (McMechen, W. Va./John Marshall) paced the Eagles with 18 points and four assists.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After a solid 70-51 win over Goucher College last Wednesday to conclude the 2013-14 series against the Gophers, the Juniata College men’s basketball team currently sits in a four way tie for third place in the Landmark Conference standings. This Saturday, Feb. 15, the Eagles will host U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center at 2 p.m. for the final home contest of the regular season.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – A strong overall team effort propelled the Juniata College men’s basketball team to a 70-51 win over Goucher College, improving the teams’ overall record to 14-8 and 5-6 in Landmark Conference play. Senior Lucas Mellott (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) registered his fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds and senior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) added a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds. On top of the standout performances from the two seniors, all eight Juniata plays that saw time on the court scored for the Eagles.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College men’s basketball student-athlete Kevin Snyder (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) is a hard working and dedicated contributor to his team on and off the court. In the three years that Snyder has been a part of the team, Juniata has made it to the Landmark Conference Championship twice, qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament twice, and won the 2013 ECAC South Championship title.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After earning the season sweep of Moravian College last Saturday, the Juniata College men’s basketball team will look to continue the momentum, as they take on Goucher College at home in a mid-week Landmark Conference matchup. Last months the Eagles took on the Gophers in Towson, Md. and held off a Goucher surge in the final minutes to earn the 60-57 victory.
