TOWSON, Md. – Senior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) of the Juniata College men's basketball team has been named the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete for the 2013-14 men's basketball season. He is just the tenth Juniata student-athlete to receive the senior scholar athlete award and the second men's basketball player.

"This is what athletics is supposed to be all about," said head coach Greg Curley. "There is not a better example of what a student-athlete should be, or than you want them to be, than Brian. There isn't a more fitting award than this for Brian or for our program."

The award winners must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are then selected from a committee of Landmark officers, athletics directors, and sports information directors.

Scholly played in all 28 games for the Eagles this season making 27 starts and finished second on the team in total points and points per game. He is a two-time Capital One Academic All-District honoree and finished his career at Juniata as the seventh leading scorer in program history and the most prolific three-point shooter ever to wear a Juniata uniform. He is the program's leader in 3-point field goals both attempted and made as well as earning the leading 3-point field goal shooting percentage. Scholly also earned Landmark Academic Honor Roll standing during all three years he was eligible.

"Brian is a pretty grounded guy," added Curley. "He has a great work ethic and has his priorities and values in line. He's focused and knows what he wants to accomplish both on and off the floor and particularly in the classroom. He's really committed to excellence in all of his endeavors."

Scholly will graduate with a degree in history and a secondary emphasis in education.
