Stringfellow’s Five Saves Highlight Eagles’ Battle with Lycoming

Huntingdon, Pa. – Kara Stringfellow tallied five saves in goal, but Juniata field hockey came up just short in a 1-0 loss to Lycoming on Wednesday afternoon at Knox Stadium.

The Eagles were active offensively, generating 13 total shots and 11 on goal, but could not find the back of the cage against Lycoming goalkeeper Isabella Bobe, who turned aside every attempt. Mackenzie Long led the attack with four shots and three on target, while Kaylyn Nierzwicki, Caitlin Steffie, and Mallory Prince each registered multiple scoring chances.

Lycoming scored the game's lone goal midway through the second quarter when Laurel Fite converted off an assist from Halie Woodring. From there, Juniata continued to press forward, earning three penalty corners and sustaining offensive pressure late into the match, but the Warriors held firm defensively.

Haleigh Wolverton, Katherine McGrath, and Courtney Coulter each put shots on goal for Juniata, while Stringfellow kept the Eagles within reach with key saves at crucial moments.

With the result, Juniata moves to 2-15 overall. The Eagles will look to bounce back as they close out the regular season at home this weekend.
