Baseball Falls Twice to Greyhounds to Open Series

Baseball Falls Twice to Greyhounds to Open Series

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team dropped the first two games in their series at Moravian, 18-5 (seven innings) and 7-3, Saturday afternoon at Gillespie Field.

Dakotah Snyder started the game with a walk, and two batters later, Zach Johnston reached safely on an error. Michael Warren singled up the middle, scoring Snyder and getting Johnston to third, and Joey Woodrow doubled the lead with a sac fly to center. The Greyhounds answered with three runs on four hits, taking the lead in the bottom half of the inning.

Juniata drove in two more runs in the second as Connor Blough's groundout to the shortstop scored Charlie Bakken, and Snyder's single through the left side scored Tim Coleman and Tyler Mack

The Greyhounds' offense really started to heat up in the third. They scored six runs on five hits, including a three-run home run to right. They added five runs on four hits in the fourth, and they led by nine.

The hosts added four more in the sixth to make it 18-5. The Eagles couldn't produce any runs in the seventh, so the game ended after seven.

Snyder was 2-3 with two RBI, a double, a walk, and a run scored.

In game two, the Greyhounds built a 7-0 lead as they held the Eagles to three hits through seven innings.

In the eighth, Snyder singled through the left side, advanced on a passed ball, and was sent home by Warren's double down the left-field line. Sacrifice flies from Sebastian Tringali and Snyder in the ninth were the game's final two runs.

Warren went 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Johnston went 2-5 while Bakken was 1-2 with a run scored.

Juniata will take on Moravian in the series' final game tomorrow at 12:00.
