Eagles Fall at Susquehanna on Walkout

Eagles Fall at Susquehanna on Walkout

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team lost in heartbreaking fashion at Susquehanna, 9-8, Sunday afternoon at Harold Bollinger Field.

The River Hawks struck first, as they hung five in the second inning, scoring five runs on three hits.

In the top of the third, Chatram Persaud led off with a walk and advanced to second on a balk. Two batters later, Dakotah Snyder drew a walk, and Corey Daniels loaded the bases when he reached on an error. Michael Warren flew out to right, which allowed Persaud to score from third. Snyder scored on an error by the catcher to bring Juniata to within three, 5-2.

In the fourth, Evan Mock led off with a double to left, and two batters later, Joey Woodrow drove him in with a single to left center to make it 5-3.

The teams traded zeros in the fifth through seventh innings before the Eagle offense capitalized on some River Hawk errors as they scored five runs on two hits with two SU errors to take the lead, 8-5.

The River Hawks got two back in the eighth on back-to-back RBI singles to left as the Eagles held a narrow 8-7 lead heading into the ninth.

SU scraped together the two runs they needed in the ninth, tying the game on a single to center and eventually winning on a fielder's choice.

Juniata will host Chatham Wednesday at 4:00.
