Eagles Comeback to Defeat Rangers, Sweep Weekend Series

Eagles Comeback to Defeat Rangers, Sweep Weekend Series

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team completed their series sweep of Drew with another thrilling 11-10 comeback victory Saturday afternoon at Langdon Goodale Field, that was drenched in the morning before the sun came out in the afternoon.

The Rangers managed to score once in the first and again in the fourth as the Eagles trailed by two early.

In the bottom of the fourth, with runners at first and third, David Beard singled through the left side to score Jackson Cunnane from third.

A double and a sac fly in the sixth put the Eagles back down by three, but the sixth inning would be kind to the Eagles.

Evan Mock led off with a single to left, and Joey Woodrow followed by mashing a double down the left field line. Two batters later, Beard singled up the middle to score Mock, and Joey Allegrini followed by smashing a three-run homer to left to put the Eagles ahead 5-4. Corey Daniels drew a two-out walk, and Michael Warren bopped his third home run of the series, which made it 7-4 Eagles through six innings.

Drew responded with a five-run seventh as Juniata again trailed 8-7.

Woodrow started the bottom half of the seventh, getting hit by a pitch, and Chatram Persaud drew a walk. Two batters later, Allegrini drew a walk to load the bases, and Dakotah Snyder singled through the left side to score two runs. Daniels followed with a single up the middle to score Snyder and Allegrini, which gave the Eagles an 11-9 lead.

Hunter Tate successfully navigated the final two innings as the Rangers got within one and had runners at first and second. On a ball hit towards the gap between first and second, the Ranger runner tried to get home, but Mock flipped the ball to Woodrow, and he applied the tag to end the game.

Beard went 2-3 with two RBi, a walk, and a run scored, while Allegrini went 1-2 with three RBI, a walk, and a run scored. Snyder was 3-4 with two RBI, a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored. Daniels was 2-4 with a walk, two RBI, and a run scored. Chase Alessandroni got the start and went 6.0 innings, allowing six hits, four runs, and striking out six. Zachary Malone got the win for the Eagles, pitching an inning and allowing five runs on six hits with a strikeout. Tate got the save, pitching two innings while allowing four hits, one run, and striking out one.

The Eagles will return to action on the road Tuesday at Penn College. The first pitch is at 3:30.
