Eight Run Seventh Powers Eagles Past Bobcats

Eight Run Seventh Powers Eagles Past Bobcats

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team used a substantial eight-run inning in the seventh to come back and win, 13-10, Thursday evening at Langdon Goodale Field.

The Bobcats scored five runs in the fifth and added another in the sixth as the Eagles found themselves in a 6-0 hole.

Joey Woodrow led off the second with a walk, got to second when Aaron Bollinger lined out and advanced to third on Chatram Persaud's single to left. Woodrow scored the first run of the game on Charlie Bakken's sac fly to center.

In the fourth, Dakotah Snyder drove in Woodrow to bring the Eagles back within four at 6-2.

In the bottom of the sixth, Bollinger drew a two-out walk, and Persaud followed with a walk of his own. Bakken drove in Bollinger with a single to center, and Snyder drove in Persaud with a single to left to bring the Eagles within two, 6-4.

A RBI double by Pitt-Greensburg put the visitors back up by three, but the Eagle offense exploded in the bottom half of the seventh.

David Beard led off getting hit by a pitch, and Corey Daniels followed by smashing a double down the left field line. Jackson Cunnane's double emptied the bases and brought the Eagles within one. Evan Mock walked, Joey Woodrow laid down a bunt and got to second on the throw, while Cunnane scored from second. Bollinger drove in Mock, and Persaud scored two more on a two-run single to center. Beard scored Persaud on a double to left and scored on a wild pitch. Juniata scored eight runs on six hits in the inning.

Pitt Greensburg scored once in the top of the eighth, and Woodrow's sacrifice fly pushed Mock across the plate in the bottom half of the inning as Juniata led 13-5 heading into the ninth.

The Bobcats managed to score twice in the ninth to get within three before Harrison Leister struck out the final batter of the game to clinch the Eagle win.

Devon Coldren got the win for Juniata, pitching 3.1 innings in relief while allowing two hits, one run, and striking out three.

The Eagles will host Drew tomorrow, with first pitch at 1:00.
