Bio
Hannah Gartrell joined the Juniata College Athletics Department as an Assistant Softball Coach in July 2025. She brings experience in both playing and coaching at the collegiate level, along with a strong foundation in player development, team operations, and fostering inclusive team cultures.
Gartrell assists with all aspects of the softball program, including practice planning, skill development, game strategy, and administrative support. She plays an active role in recruiting, academic monitoring, and organizing team travel, while also helping lead strength and conditioning sessions, field preparation, and equipment logistics.
Prior to her arrival at Juniata, Gartrell served as a Softball Coach Intern and Volunteer Assistant Coach at Mount St. Mary’s University during the 2024–2025 academic year. In that role, she helped design and implement an NCAA-compliant internship program, assisted with daily practices and team meetings, and coordinated game day operations and off-field logistics. Her responsibilities included leading defensive and offensive drills, managing field maintenance, organizing meals, and assisting with camps and clinics.
In addition to her coaching experience, Gartrell has worked in customer service and security roles, where she developed a reputation for professionalism, communication, and reliability. She is committed to creating a positive, growth-oriented environment for student-athletes that emphasizes both academic and athletic success.
A native of Gettysburg, PA, Gartrell earned her B.S. in Sport Management from Mount St. Mary’s University in 2024.
