Eagles Top Cougars to Remain Unbeaten

DALLAS, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team won on the road at Misericordia, 18-12, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Kelliann Drummond had a goal and five assists, while Peyton Goodrich tallied five goals, two ground balls, and five draw controls. Kyndall Yeager totaled four goals, an assist, and two draw controls. Grace Gibbs had four goals, three ground balls, seven draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Skyler Stevens had two goals, three assists, two ground balls, and a caused turnover, while Elayna Stubbe and Shannon Para had a goal apiece. Caoilinn Heatley made five saves in goal for the Eagles.

The teams traded goals across the first five minutes, with Drummond finding Stubble for the first goal of the game and Stevens finding Yeager to give JC the lead back for a moment before the Cougars tied things at two. The Juniata defense shut down the Misericordia attack the rest of the quarter while Gibbs scored off a Yeager assist, Yeager tallied her second off a Stevens assist, and Goodrich got in on the fun off Drummond's second assist of the day.

The Cougars scored three goals in the first four minutes of the second quarter to tie things at five, but Juniata closed the half on a 4-1 run that featured goals from Para, Stevens, Yeager, and Gibbs as Juniata led 9-6 at the break.

The Cougars managed to get within two for the last time midway through the third at 12-10, with just under seven to go. Goodrich struck from a free position shot before Stevens and Gibbs scored as Juniata led by five heading into the final period.

JC outscored MU by one, 3-2, in the final frame to ice the game.

Gibbs, Goodrich, and Yeager have had at least three points in every game so far this season.

Juniata will host McDaniel on Wednesday at 4:00.
