#10 Cardinals Down Eagles in Final Game of the Year

Natalie Gibson
Natalie Gibson tallied a goal, a ground ball, two draw controls and a caused turnover against Catholic.

HUTNINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-2 decision to #10 Catholic, on a sunny and windy Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.

The Cardinals scored the first six goals of the game over a seven-minute period.

With 18 minutes to go in the half Arielle Danchenko (Palm City, Fla. / South Fork) got to a loose ball near the Catholic net and beat the keeper to get the Eagles on the board.

The Catholic attack continued to find success, however, striking six more times before halftime to build a 12-1 lead.

The Eagle defense managed to slow Catholic some in the second half, as the Cardinals tallied four goals over the first 17 minutes of action. Paige Riker (Sussex, N.J. / Vernon Township) found Natalie Gibson (Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck) for the second JC goal of the day with a little under 12 minutes to go in the contest.

Catholic found the back of the net twice more to complete the score line.

The Eagles finish the year 6-11.
