Greyhounds Ground Eagles

Natalie Gibson amassed two goals, a ground ball, six draw controls and two caused turnovers against Moravian.

HUNTINGDON, Pa.-The Juniata women's lacrosse team lost to visiting Moravian, 21-5, on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.

The Greyhounds scored the first six goals over the first 16 minutes as they took control of the game early.

With 13 minutes to go in the half, Arielle Danchenko (Palm City, Fla. / South Fork) scooped up a Moravian miss and took the other way. She ran through the entire Greyhound team before ripping a shot off the post. Paige Riker (Sussex, N.J. / Vernon Township) was there to pick up the loose ball and slot it past the keeper for the first Eagle goal of the day. Moravian struck again and Natalie Gibson (Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck) converted a free position shot to make it 7-2.

Moravian scored four more before Gibson scored her second goal of the day unassisted.

Juniata trailed 13-3 at half.

The Greyhounds scored the first six goals of the second half. With just under 15 minutes to go, Danchenko scored her first goal of the game off an FPS shot.

In the final seconds of the game with the score 21-4, Danchenko forced a turnover on Moravian side of the field, scooped up the loose ball and beat the keeper before the buzzer sounded for her second goal of the day.

Isabella Medaris (Monroe, Conn. / Masulk) made nine saves in goal.

Juniata returns to action Friday at Goucher at 5:30.
