HUNTINGDON, Pa.- In their home finale, the Juniata's Men's Lacrosse team hosted the Catholic University of America Cardinals and suffered a 25-4 defeat.
Amidst all of the Cardinals' scoring, the Eagles had four goals scored by four different players.
First was senior attacker Kolton Black, scoring his 23rd goal of the season on an assist from junior midfielder Vincent Bechler. Black responded after the Cardinals opened a 2-0 lead to start the game, making it 2-1.
Later on, Bechler found his second assist on a pass to junior defenseman Charlie Newman, who scored in a man-up situation early in the second period. By halftime, the Cardinals had extended their lead to 13-2.
In the third period, the Eagles scored their final two goals. The first came from senior attacker Aiden Duran. Duran's goal was unassisted, however he was the one who provided the assist to freshman midfielder Casey Cappasola for his goal later in the third period. The Eagles went scoreless in the fourth and lost by a final score of 25-4.
Junior Ryan Madison and sophomore Griffin Umstead shared the time in goal and accumulated 18 saves on the day altogether.
The Eagles will move to 2-13 with the loss and 0-8 in conference play. They will finish their season up next week with away matches against Elizabethtown College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and Drew University next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
