Eagles Use 23 Aces to Ground Gophers

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #1 Juniata women's volleyball team made quick work of visiting Goucher College as they won 3-0 (25-4, 25-4, 25-9) Friday evening inside Memorial Gymnasium. 

The Eagles had their most effective set, hitting the ball in set one as they hit an outrageous .750 as they scored 10 of the first 11 points and the final nine as they took set one 25-4. Sydney Ohl had four aces in the set, while Mia Schubert had three. 

Set two, Juniata hit .647 and took the first 14 points, powered by four Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez aces, as they won by the same score, 25-4. 

The final set of the match saw the Eagles lead 15-4 before the Gophers took five of the next six. JC responded with the last nine points of the match to end things, with Ohl tacking on another three aces in the closing stretch. 

Ohl's seven aces are tied for the 10th most in program history and the sixth most in the rally-scoring era. The team had 23 total aces, which is the most in the rally-scoring era in program history.  

The Eagles play a pair of games tomorrow, closing conference play at 11:00 a.m. against the University of Catholic before facing off against Lynchburg at 3:00.
