TOWSON, Md.- The Juniata women's volleyball had six players make the 2017 Landmark All-Conference Women's Volleyball Team and Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) was named Offensive Player of the Year. Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck), Morgan Edwards (Lancaster, Pa. / Penn Manor), Megan Moroney (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor), Alyssa Tavera (Whittier, Calif. / La Salle H.S.), and Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) also made the team.
Weihbrecht and Byrne were named to the first team while Edwards, Moroney, Taylor and Tavera made the second team.
Weihbrecht has played in 31 matches and 111 sets so far this season. She has totaled 306 kills (2.76 kills per set) and 85 total blocks. Weihbrecht was named Landmark Tournament MVP after the Eagles swept Scranton in the Landmark Championship.
Byrne has played in 31 matches and 108 sets. She has 533 digs (4.94 digs per set) and 123 assists so far this season. It's her third straight appearance on the all-conference first team.
Moroney has played in 28 matches and 95 sets. She has tallied 183 kills (1.93 kills per set), 44 digs and 77 total blocks. In the Eagles semifinal match against Moravian Moroney reached 1,000 kills in her career. She has appeared on the team all four years of her career.
Taylor has played in 28 matches and 93 sets. She has tallied 216 kills (2.32 kills per set). Taylor has also recorded 76 digs and 29 total blocks.
Edwards has played in 27 matches and 87 sets. She totaled 159 kills (1.83 kills per set), 36 digs and 54 total blocks.
Tavera has played in 29 matches and 98 sets. She has 527 assists and 273 digs on the season.
The Eagles are set to play Brockport on the campus of Otterbein in the opening round of the NCAA tournament, Friday at 12:30.
