ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa - The Juniata women's track and field team competed at the Blue Jay Tune Up hosted by Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon.
In the 100 meters, Gracie French (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area Senior HS) placed fourth in the final with a time of 12.86 seconds, while Bri Spencer (Grampian, Pa. / Curwensville Area HS) followed closely in fifth at 12.90 seconds.
Spencer also set a personal best in the 200 meters, clocking 27.39 seconds to finish ninth. Rebecca Christophel (Three Springs, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon HS) and Jaqueline Bryant (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Islip HS) also recorded personal bests in the event, finishing in 27.79 and 28.14 seconds, respectively.
In the 400 meters, Olivia Barbacci (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley HS) secured third place with a time of 59.00 seconds. Bryant achieved a personal best of 1:03.71, while Haley Mummah (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata HS) and Cecelia Williams (Hollidaysburg, Pa. / Hollidaysburg Area Senior HS) finished in 1:10.44 and 1:13.46, respectively.
In the 400m hurdles, French placed fourth with a time of 1:10.88, and Beck Mensch (Lewistown, Pa. / Mifflin County HS) achieved a personal best of 1:15.36 to finish tenth.
Christophel led the Eagles in the 800 meters, finishing fourth with a season-best time of 2:24.79. Camille McRoberts(Canton, Pa. / Canton HS) followed in sixth at 2:27.81, and Chloe Reilley (Honey Brook, Pa. / Twin Valley HS) recorded a personal best of 2:40.09.
In the 1500 meters, McRoberts achieved a personal best of 5:04.36 to place seventh.
Olivia Brenneman (York, Pa. / Dallastown Area HS) won the 5000 meters with a personal best time of 20:15.65.
In the field events, Chloe Sauer (Middleburg, Pa. / Midd-West HS) placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 31.13 meters. Paytan Henry (Greensburg, Pa. / Greensburg Salem HS) and Justice Sheaffer (Lewistown, Pa. / Mifflin County HS) followed with throws of 23.13 and 21.94 meters, respectively.
Sauer also achieved a personal best in the hammer throw, placing fourth with a mark of 36.36 meters. Emma Coolidge(Wellsboro, Pa. / Wellsboro Area HS) and Sheaffer followed with throws of 31.34 and 27.34 meters, respectively.
In the high jump, Ashley Alfree (Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan HS) cleared 1.50 meters to place third, and Mummah cleared 1.40 meters to finish sixth.
Coolidge won the javelin with a throw of 37.24 meters. Sheaffer placed eighth with a mark of 27.57 meters, and Josie Kelly (York, Pa. / Kennard-Dale HS) threw 21.37 meters to finish 18th.
In the long jump, Spencer achieved a personal best of 5.02 meters to place sixth. French followed in 11th with a jump of 4.80 meters.
Kelly also competed in the pole vault, clearing 2.77 meters to place fifth.
In the shot put, Sauer placed seventh with a throw of 10.30 meters, and Coolidge followed in eighth with a mark of 10.23 meters.
Bryant achieved a mark of 10.53 meters in the triple jump to place seventh.
The 4x100m relay team of Spencer, Barbacci, French, and Alfree finished third with a time of 51.57 seconds.
