Juniata put forth a strong showing at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, with multiple personal bests, top finishes, and solid relay performances.
Sprints & Hurdles:
Freshman Gracie French led the way in the 100m dash, clocking 12.90 for 32nd place, while Breanne Spencer (13.14) and Ashley Alfree (14.14, PR) followed. Spencer also competed in the 200m, finishing in 27.99. In the 100m hurdles, Josie Kelly set a PR of 17.97, and Rebecca Mensch crossed in 19.52.
The 400m hurdles saw Olivia Barbacci finish 5th with a strong 1:05.70, scoring points for the Juniata. French (1:10.75) and Mensch (1:17.45, PR) also competed.
Mid-Distance & Distance Events:
Freshman Olivia Brenneman ran a 6:01.02 PR to place 2nd in the 1-mile open, while Camille McRoberts clocked 5:36.67 PR in the seeded mile. Brenneman also finished 13th in the 3000m (12:02.02).
Field Events:
In the pole vault, Olivia Barbacci secured 1st place, clearing 3.45m (11-03.75). Josie Kelly vaulted 2.70m (8-10.25).
Throwers performed well, with Emma Coolidge throwing a PR of 35.80m (117-05) for 6th place in the javelin, earning points. Chloe Sauer set a PR of 32.43m (106-04) in the hammer throw, while Justice Sheaffer (22.30m, PR) and Paytan Henry (19.32m) improved their marks.
Jumpers also made an impact, as Jackie Bryant placed 2nd in the triple jump (10.24m), and Ashley Alfree cleared 1.50m (4-11.00) in the high jump.
Relays:
The 4x100m relay team of Spencer, Barbacci, French, and Alfree ran a solid 50.93. The 4x400m 'A' team (Bryant, Barbacci, French, McRoberts) finished 6th in 4:13.07, earning key points, while the 4x800m relay (McRoberts, Reilley, Brenneman, Williams) secured 5th in 11:01.67, adding to the team's overall performance.
