Eagles Log Five PRs at Paul Kaiser Invite

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- Four Eagles logged personal records in Saturday's Paul Kaiser Invitational at Shippensburg University, the final meet for Juniata ahead of next weekend's Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Personal records on the day came from Ashley Alfree, Olivia Barbacci, Zoe Biles, and Rebecca Christophel.

Juniata competed in four track events, including the 4x100-meter relay, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and 800-meter event.

The team of Ashley Alfree, Olivia Barbacci, Zoe Biles, and Rebecca Christophel logged Juniata's second 4x100-meter time of the year, and it now stands as the team's best of the year at 53.15, which earned a 13th-place result.

Barbacci and Biles each set personal records in the 400-meter dash. Barbacci set a 1:01.49 to finish in 16th place from 49. She reduces her previous best by 17 hundredths of a second set at Shippensburg's Mid-Week Meet in mid-April. Biles logged a 1:07.05 to finish in 33rd place. Her previous best was a 1:07.44 set at Moravian's Coach P Invitational last week.

Christophel set a new personal best in the 800-meter race with a 2:23.24, which earned her a strong 12th-place showing from a field of 75. Her previous best was a 2:26.92 set at Shippensburg's Mid-Week Meet. Christophel also logged a 28.49 in the 200-meter dash to claim 48th place from a field of 82.

Juniata competed in five total field events, including the pole vault, high jump, hammer throw, shot put, and javelin throw.

Barbacci set a new personal best and stayed third-best in program history with a mark of 2.90 meters in the pole vault to finish in 12th place of 30 competitors. Her previous best was 2.80 meters, set at last week's Coach P Invitational at Moravian. Alfree tied for 20th place with a mark of 2.45 meters in the event.

Alfree also competed in the high jump and set a new personal record in the event with a mark of 1.41 meters. She finished in 30th and improved her previous best by 0.04 meters set to open the outdoor campaign at Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invite.

Emma Coolidge was Juniata's lone representative in the three throwing events. She went 32.19 meters on the javelin throw to earn 14th place from a field of 53. The shot put saw her claim 39th out of 64 with a 9.71-meter throw. She fouled out from her hammer throw attempts.

The Eagles return next Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7, for the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Moravian University.
