Women's Track and Field Compete in Millersville Metrics

 MILLERSVILLE, Pa.- The Juniata women's track and field team took part in their second meet of the outdoor season at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday. 

The Eagles competed in five field events, including the pole vault, high jump, shot put, javelin throw, and discus. 

Ashley Alfree took part in the pole vault and high jump, setting a personal record in the pole vault. She hit a mark of 2.45 meters to finish in 16th and improve one-tenth of a meter on her mark last week at Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invitational. In the high jump, she finished in 17th with a jump of 1.35 meters.  

Emma Coolidge competed in three throwing events on the day, with two personal records set. She set a new best in the shot put with a mark of 10.99 meters to finish in 21st. It's an improvement of 2.14 meters from last week. She also set a PR in the javelin throw, finishing in 13th with a mark of 32.56 meters to improve by 1.49 meters. She set her first discus throw for Juniata at 24.33 meters for a 30th-place finish. 

Juniata competed in three field events, including the 100-meter dash, the 400-meter dash, and the 4x400-meter relay. 

Olivia BarbacciRebecca Christophel, and Zoe Biles each logged a time in the 100-meter race. Barbacci set her first Juniata 100-meter time at 13.78 to finish in 33rd. Christophel followed in 38th with a time of 14.11, while Biles' first Juniata time in the event was 14.74 to finish in 45th. 

Christophel and Biles also competed in the 400-meter dash. Christophel finished in 18th with a time of 1:04.50, while Biles finished in 35th with a time of 1:11.71. 

The team of Barbacci, Christophel, Biles, and Alfree logged Juniata's first 4x400 meter time of the season. They finished in fifth place with a time of 4:29.43, the best time in their heat. 

The Juniata women's track and field team heads to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania next Saturday for the Ed Fry Invitational.
