HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's track & field team will head to Susquehanna University to compete in the Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The Eagles will look to have several strong performances at the meet. The Eagles have athletes who are ranked in the top 10 of the conference in all events, except for the 60 meter dash, and all are looking to garner All-Landmark honors. At the 2013 Landmark Indoor Championships, the Eagles finished tied, and will look to improve upon that performance. In the previous six indoor championship meets, third place has the highest Juniata has finished, doing so five times.
Senior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) set a Landmark and program record in the 3000 meters on Feb. 22, securing her as the top performer in the conference. Woods also ranks second in the 800 meters, mile, and 5000 meters.
Freshman Katelyn Fisher (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) will look to be a top competitor in the high jump. She currently holds the top mark in the Landmark for the event. She also ranks in the top 10 in the long jump. Sophomore Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) is currently fifth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump.
Senior Paula Pryor (Westbrookville, N.Y./Burke Catholic) will be a contender for the Eagles in the sprints. She has the fourth fastest time in the 400 meters at 1:01.59 and also has the seventh best time in the 200 meter dash.
Junior Chelsey Beaver (Shamokin Dam, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) is third in the shot put at 11.10 meters and fifth in the weight throw at a distance of 11.97 meters.
The Juniata relays also will be in the mix on Saturday. The distance medley relay is ranked second in the conference, the 4x200 is ranked third, and the 4x400 is fourth.
