HUNTINGDON, Pa. –Juniata College track and field held its annual Juniata Invitational on campus Saturday and saw Eagles earn 12 top three finishes and win four events on the day.
Men's Track & Field
Senior Justin Clapper (Buffalo Mills, Pa./Bedford) won the hammer throw with a personal best mark of 46.05m. He also went on the win the discus throw. His mark of 39.70m took first place by over a meter.
In the 5K, freshman Devon Wiser (Warriors Mark, Pa./Tyrone Area) crushed his personal best time by 48 seconds, crossing the line in 16:50.31.
Women's Track & Field
Senior Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) earned four top three finishes. She won the high jump after clearing 1.53m and placed second in the 100m hurdles just 0.04 seconds behind the winner. Shaffer also finished third in both the long jump and triple jump.
Junior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) continued her distance dominance. She won the 3K in 10:40.29, almost 14 seconds ahead of second place finisher senior Caroline Morgan (Havertown, Pa./Haverford).
In the field, senior Melissa King (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) and sophomore Chelsey Beaver (Shamokin Dam, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) went 1-2, respectively, in the hammer throw. King threw a personal best 37.18m and Beaver hit the 34.28m mark.
Both the men and women's programs head to the Susquehanna Invitational next on Saturday, March 30.
