Woods Named Track Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Junior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) was named Landmark Conference Women's Track Player of the Week Monday.  Woods set a personal record of 5:15.41 in the 1-mile event at the Susquehanna Crusader Classic.  She holds the fastest time in the Landmark Conference for the event by more than 16 seconds.

"She's off to a good start," said head coach Jon Cutright.  "To PR this early is pretty good.  Especially since she really struggled in mile indoor last year, so we're pretty happy for her.  She deserved it."

Woods beat her previous PR set at the 2011 Landmark Indoor Championships by five seconds as she crossed almost 24 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.  She also placed third in the 5000m at the Classic, finishing in 20:18.56.

Juniata heads to Bucknell this Saturday, Feb. 9 to compete in the Bucknell Winter Classic.  The Eagles have two meets left until this years indoor championships.
