SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. – The Juniata women's tennis team fall to Shepherd on the Road 7-0 in their spring season opener.
In first doubles, Maggie Ackley and Olivia Cooley fall 6-0, but Immy Ramsdale and Laura Julien defeat their opponents 6-2 in second doubles.
In singles play, Ackley fell 6-0, 6-0 in first singles, while Cooley fell to her opponent 6-0, 6-0 in second singles. Ramsdale lost 6-0, 6-0 in third singles, and Julien fell 6-0, 6-0 in fourth singles. In fifth singles, "May" Nhu Nguyen lost 6-0, 6-0.
Head Coach Nick Margiasso says, "Definitely disappointed that we didn't translate all the work we've done on the practice court so far to the match court, but that starts and ends with me, so I need to do better getting my team ready. That said, season openers are always tough, and playing a division above us was always going to be a challenge. But that's our goal this season to continue to rise to the challenge, and I know the team will."
The women's tennis team is on the road again to Hood this Friday, March 10, for a 2 p.m. match.
