Women's Swimming Conquers Warriors, Defeats Colonels

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Juniata women's swimming team competed in a tri-meet against Lycoming College and Wilkes University on Saturday at the Lamade Gymnasium Natatorium. The Eagles won over Lycoming 138 to 47 and 125 to 56 over Wilkes.

The meet started with the 200-yard medley relay, where the team of Delany Wetzel, Norah McClain, Danielle Cline, and Juliana Varner secured first place with a time of 2:04.68.

Abby Ortiz led the Eagles in the 1650-yard freestyle, finishing first with a time of 20:13.82. Kimberlyn Beeler (23:19.21) and Amanda Puza (23:45.37) also scored points for Juniata in the event.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Danielle Cline finished second with a time of 2:11.57. Grace Finch (2:25.39) and Miriam Struble-Hedstrom (2:43.78) completed the event for Juniata.

Wetzel dominated the 100-yard backstroke, taking first place in 1:08.52. McClain finished second with a time of 1:12.41.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Maegan Jordan placed third with a time of 1:20.93, followed closely by Varner (1:22.24).

McClain led Juniata in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing second with a time of 27.94. Snabu Neupane competed as well, completing the event in 37.57.

The 500-yard freestyle saw Jordan finish first in 5:52.69, while Varner came in fifth with a time of 6:35.92.

In the 200-yard IM, Cline led Juniata with a time of 2:29.49 for first place. Manali Misra (2:52.08) and Struble-Hedstrom (2:59.00) rounded out the event.

The meet concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay, where the team of Jordan, Misra, Beeler, and Ortiz finished second in 1:58.50.

The Eagles will return to action tomorrow at home against Lebanon Valley.
